Mercedes-Benz India has started taking pre-bookings for its electric version of the G-Class SUV. The German Automaker announced the launch of the G-Class electric SUV in India by next year.
The electric G-Wagon concept, which was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo, was initially named the EQG; later, it was renamed the G 580 with EQ Technology.
The G 580 is known as a Gelandewagen in Germany.
The G Wagon EV is loaded with features such as integrated dual 12.3-inch displays, passenger-side grab handles, an updated voice assistant, and an augmented reality-based heads-up display (HUD). While as optional extras offer dual 11.6-inch rear screens, wireless phone charging, and a Burmester 3D sound system.
The G 580 has four electric motors featuring an all-wheel drive (AWD) that produce a total of 587 PS and 1,164 Nm of torque. The electric G-wagon also supports fast charging of up to 200 kW, which can charge up from 10 to 80 percent in just 32 minutes. It offers a claimed range of up to 473 km (WLTP).
Mercedes-Benz claims that the G-Class electric version boasts all the off-road capabilities of the standard G-Class.
